SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Prosecutors have filed theft charges against five people accused of stealing 60 pounds of dinosaur bones near a Utah quarry during an educational trip run by a college in Texas, authorities said Thursday. The bones were taken after the suspects slipped away from a sanctioned dig last May and pried a dinosaur limb and other fragments from a desert landscape that contains a treasure trove of bones that are millions of years old, authorities said.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah's GOP this week will choose 37 people as delegates to the Republican National Convention who could decide the party's presidential nominee this summer if front-runner Donald Trump doesn't lock up the contest first. More than 400 people in Utah are vying to serve as delegates, who are typically longtime Republicans and state party activists.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Anthropologists are investigating bones unearthed during construction at the University of Utah. Construction crews stumbled upon the bones Wednesday morning while working on a major renovation of the Salt Lake City school's original library. The bones are believed to be human, but university spokeswoman Maria O'Mara says university police quickly determined that it wasn't an active crime scene but some sort of historic or prehistoric site.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — Environmental groups are suing the federal government over its decision to extend operations for 25 years at the coal-fired Four Corners Power Plant and the Navajo Mine in northwestern New Mexico. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Arizona.
