LAS VEGAS (AP) — Two sons of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and three other men refused Friday to enter pleas in federal court in Las Vegas to charges in an armed confrontation with government agents two years ago. Magistrate Judge George Foley Jr. entered not guilty pleas on behalf of each man during a sometimes contentious arraignment that featured cat-calls and cheers from about 30 Bundy backers and defendants' family members under watchful eyes of about a dozen U.S. marshals.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A judge is upholding a new political nominating system that allows Utah Republican candidates to bypass the party's caucus and convention system in favor of gathering voter signatures instead. U.S. District Judge David Nuffer's ruling Friday evening that the 2014 changes don't interfere with the state GOP's constitutional rights and is a legitimate action by the state to manage elections.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — U.S. Rep. Mia Love and her Democratic challenger Doug Owens have added a combined million dollars to their campaign accounts so far this year as they prepare to face off again in November. New campaign fundraising reports show Love raised about $602,000 from January through early April.
NORTH SALT LAKE, Utah (AP) — The Utah Geological Survey has found that the site of a destructive landslide two years ago has shifted a total of six inches. North Salt Lake Mayor Len Arave says the Geological Survey has been monitoring the hill since the slide and that they detected movement in two spots since October.
