DILKON, Ariz. (AP) — A former Navajo Nation lawmaker who pleaded guilty to misusing tribal funds has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution. Young Jeff Tom Sr. was sentenced Wednesday. He was the first of more than a dozen former and current lawmakers to be sentenced in criminal cases stemming from a yearslong investigation into the Tribal Council's use of discretionary funds.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Republican strategist Karl Rove is appearing with Utah Gov. Gary Herbert in Salt Lake City Wednesday as part of the GOP governor's re-election bid. The governor and Rove will speak to Republican state delegates during an event at the Vivint Smart Home Arena on Wednesday evening.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A Utah House member running for state Senate says it's wrong for his incumbent opponent to receive contributions from a charter school management company. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Rep. Rich Cunningham says American Preparatory Schools shouldn't be able to donate to political candidates because it receives tax dollars.

ST. GEORGE, Utah (AP) — Authorities have identified the person who died in a four-vehicle crash near Hildale as an Arizona woman. The Spectrum reports that the Utah Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Rachel Cawley, of Centennial Park, died Tuesday in the collision that also left another driver in critical condition.
