SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Police in Massachusetts say a 15-year-old girl has died after what authorities are calling an accidental shooting in a city apartment.
Springfield Police say the girl, whose name has not been released, was shot Thursday night and died from her injuries at a hospital on Friday.
Sgt. John Delaney told WWLP-TV that the teen and a 17-year-old boy were "playing around" with a gun when the firearm went off and hit the girl.
The shooting is believed to have been an accident.
The older boy was arraigned in juvenile court on a weapons charge and could face additional charges in connection with the incident.
