TALLINN, Estonia (AP) — The office of Latvia's president says he has resumed his duties after a two-month hiatus due to heart operation.

Spokeswoman Kristine Jaunzeme said President Raimonds Vejonis is "back on track in duties" as of Wednesday after recovering from the Jan. 20 heart surgery at Riga's Paul Stradins Clinical University Hospital where doctors replaced an infected valve with an artificial one.

Jaunzeme quoted the 49-year-old Vejonis saying at Wednesday's press conference that "the lesson to be learned is that you can't work 24/7 if you have health issues." He pledged to slow down his working pace from now on.

Vejonis became the head of state of the small Baltic country of 2 million in June 2015.
