SANDPOINT, Idaho (AP) — A $3,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to a conviction in the theft of a Bonner County veteran's ashes from a cemetery in Sandpoint.

The Daily Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1USEo6H ) that the ashes of Leonard Scott were believed to have been taken from Lakeview Cemetery on or before June 10, 2014.

The granite plate marking Scott's grave had been removed and the brass urn holding his ashes was missing from a niche along the Pend Oreille River.

Sandpoint police are urging those with information about the case to come forward.
