HURON, S.D. (AP) — South Dakota State Fair officials have hired a company to take care of a gopher problem on the fairgrounds in Huron.

Fair Manager Peggy Besch says officials have fielded numerous complaints about the rodents that burrow holes and create tripping hazards. She says getting rid of them will increase safety for both people and livestock.

KOKK radio reports that the work is to begin Tuesday.
