LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) — The University of Wyoming Board of Trustees has designated outgoing President Dick McGinity as UW president emeritus.

McGinity will be returning to a faculty position with the College of Business.

Laurie Nichols takes over as the university's president on May 16.

McGinity will serve as special adviser to the president during her first week.

After that he will return to the faculty as a full business professor beginning with the 2016-17 academic year.

McGinity was named UW's 25th president in January 2014. He decided last year to step down.
