BRUSSELS (AP) — Six people have been caught up in a law enforcement sweep around Brussels, Belgium, in connection with Tuesday's attacks at the airport and a subway station. Officers found a large stash of explosives and other bomb-making material earlier this week in an apartment believed used by the suicide bombers.
PARIS (AP) — A potential terror plot has been thwarted in France. Authorities there say a suspect was arrested Thursday who was in the "advanced stages" of a plot to attack the country. The arrest was made in suburban Paris. Officials say there's been no link yet to other attacks.
PHOENIX (AP) — Democrats and civil rights groups are charging that Arizona's Republican lawmakers and officials are engaging in voter suppression. They point to hours-long waits for some residents wanting to vote in this week's presidential primary. They blame a slash in the number of polling places this year.
GREENVILLE, N.C. (AP) — A North Carolina university is conducting an internal review after one of its white police officers handcuffed a black man who had just been brutally beaten by four white people. Officials at East Carolina University said in a statement that they are appalled by the incident, which began at an off campus club March 17. Four white suspects are charged with felonies.
SALEM, Mass. (AP) — Scalpel, sutures, handcuffs. Police in Salem, Massachusetts, say a man has pleaded not guilty at a hospital arraignment today after surgeons removed 27 bags of heroin during emergency surgery on Tuesday. Police say they believe a bag of heroin burst while the man was returning from the Dominican Republic.
