BRUSSELS (AP) — Belgian authorities are continuing the search for a man who was seen in surveillance images at the Brussels airport yesterday with two apparent suicide bombers. This, amid growing indications that the bombings at the Brussels airport and a subway station yesterday were carried out by the same Islamic State cell that attacked Paris last year. A prosecutor says several people who may be linked to the Brussels attacks are still on alert. And the country's threat alert remains at its highest level, meaning there's a danger of an imminent attack.

BRUSSELS (AP) — The Brussels airport and several subway stations remain closed today, and authorities say the airport won't reopen until Friday at the earliest. It's forcing the cancellation of 600 flights each day. Security forces today have been standing guard around the neighborhood housing the headquarters of European Union institutions, as nervous Brussels residents began returning to school and work.

DAMASCUS, Syria (AP) — With the help of Russian airstrikes, Syrian government forces have been advancing swiftly in central Syria today. They seized high ground around the town of Palmyra (pahl-MEER'-uh), and positioned themselves to recapture the historic town held by the Islamic State group. Recapturing the town would be a significant victory for the army and its Russian allies.

WASHINGTON (AP) — House Speaker Paul Ryan is calling for loftier and more hopeful politics amid an ugly and chaotic presidential campaign. The Wisconsin Republican told an audience on Capitol Hill that it's "easy to get disheartened" about the state of politics. But he says: "It did not used to be this bad, and it does not have to be this way." Ryan has stayed neutral during the Republican presidential race. He has tried to avoid commenting on Donald Trump's candidacy, while saying he intends to support the eventual GOP nominee.

DENVER (AP) — No flights are being allowed to land at Denver's airport and departures are being delayed because of a powerful storm hitting Colorado and Wyoming. The heavy, wet snow typical of spring storms has knocked out power to the airport's fuel depot and deicing plant. Blowing snow has also shut down long stretches of Interstates 25 and 80 in northern Colorado and Wyoming. Even politics is taking a snow day. Bernie Sanders and Bill Clinton both canceled planned campaign events in Wyoming.
