SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — A Los Angeles high school has taken top honors at the California Academic Decathlon, besting competitors from all over the state.
The nine-member team from Granada Hills Charter High dominated the three-day competition in Sacramento, beating out 68 other schools.
The Daily News reported Sunday (http://bit.ly/1pX0QyT) that Granada Hills racked up 61,149.6 points out of a possible 65,400 — the highest score ever recorded in the history of the competition.
It's the school's fifth state championship since 2011.
The competing teams were questioned on subjects such as math, art, science, economics and literature.
Granada Hills will represent the state at the national academic competition set for April in Alaska.
