LAS VEGAS (AP) — Five co-defendants are due to make first appearances in U.S. District Court in Las Vegas in a case stemming from an armed ranching standoff with federal agents in Nevada two years ago. Prosecutors say one of Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy's adult sons, Melvin Bundy, is among those due for arraignment today.
LAUGHLIN, Nev. (AP) — Police say a motorist is hospitalized and a dog is dead after a vehicle plunged from the fifth floor of a casino hotel parking structure in the Colorado River resort city of Laughlin. Police say two other pet dogs survived the crash of the Ford pickup truck a little before 8:30 this morning at the Edgewater resort.
CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A former prisons official in Connecticut and New York City has been named to head the Nevada Department of Corrections. Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval says James Dzurenda (zur-EHN'-dah) will begin his new job April 4. Sandoval dismissed former Nevada prisons chief Greg Cox in September after Cox failed to produce a report on time about shootings of inmates by guards at facilities around the state.
ELKO, Nev. (AP) — Experts gathered in Elko say the area will experience growth through 2017. The Elko Daily Free Press reports Nevada Association of Realtors president-elect Greg Martin told local leaders that steady growth will continue in commercial, industrial and residential real estate.
