That pushes her delegate lead for the Democratic nomination even higher. The wins in Florida and North Carolina completed her sweep of the South. Clinton, speaking to supporters in West Palm Beach, Florida, says the next president must make differences in people's lives and bring the country back together.
CLEVELAND (AP) — Ohio Gov. John Kasich is finally on the board, with a home state victory in Ohio's winner-take-all presidential primary. The win gives him 66 delegates. Kasich has sought to distinguish himself as the candidate with a positive message. He told supporters in Cleveland that he "will not take the low road to the highest office in the land."
MIAMI (AP) — Donald Trump has moved further along the path toward the GOP presidential nomination with a key win in Florida. He gains another 99 delegates in the winner-take-all contest. The victory also means the end of the road for Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. Speaking to supporters in Miami, Rubio said he was on the right side in the race, but not the winning side.
WASHINGTON (AP) — The federal government has told its workers in the nation's capital that they can take leave or work from home tomorrow. It's an effort to ease what's expected to be a traffic nightmare because the commuter rail system will be shut down for a full day. A fire has prompted an inspection of third-rail power lines.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — A coroner's official says the death of keyboardist Keith Emerson, co-founder of the seminal progressive rock group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, has been ruled a suicide. A spokesman for the Los Angeles coroner says an autopsy showed that Emerson shot himself in the head. He says there were also signs the 71-year-old had a heart condition.
