PARIS (AP) — A much anticipated report is due out today on a deliberate airliner crash in France that killed all 150 people aboard. Investigators looking at Germanwings Flight 9525 are expected to include recommendations on cockpit door rules, because the co-pilot locked the pilot out thanks to added anti-terrorist measures. It is also expected to recommend tougher medical reporting requirements relaxation of medical privacy restrictions.
KUWAIT CITY (AP) — A warning to citizens of Kuwait and other gulf Arab States is being borne out. Kuwait's ambassador to Lebanon says a third Kuwaiti citizen has been killed in the Mediterranean country in the past three days. The killings come two weeks after Kuwait and other Gulf Arab states urged their citizens to leave Lebanon or avoid traveling there. Kuwait is part of a Saudi-led bloc that recently branded Lebanon's Hezbollah a terrorist organization.
NEW YORK (AP) — Two missing tugboat crew members aren't expected to be found alive after a crash in the Hudson River north of New York City that left a third crew member confirmed dead. The search is to resume at daybreak. The 90-foot tugboat named Specialist hit a stationary construction barge yesterday morning and sank. The Coast Guard says crews are also working to contain 5,000-gallon fuel spill.
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — At least three people have died in Louisiana and Mississippi officials are still looking for two missing fishermen as floodwaters continue to rise, damaging homes and forcing residents to run to higher ground. Downpours — part of a system affecting Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Tennessee and Alabama — submerged roads and cars and washed out bridges. Hundreds of Mississippi homes have suffered minor to major damage.
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — Chalk one up for the human. A champion Go player scored his first win over Google's Go-playing computer software today in South Korea. Lee Sedol had said that he lost earlier games because he could not find any weaknesses. The AlphaGo software has already clinched the best-of-five series in the ancient Chinese game and the $1 million prize, which will be donated to charity.
