COVINGTON, La. (AP) — St. Tammany Parish Coroner Charles Preston says a 17-year-old died after falling from his kayak, possibly because of a medical problem.

Dr. Preston says in a news release that Zachary Foret was kayaking with two other teens in a pond between Covington and Folsom when the accident occurred Friday. His body was recovered Friday afternoon.

Preston says the death is not believed to be related to Friday's severe weather.

An autopsy is planned Monday.
