LAS VEGAS (AP) — A federal indictment has named Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, two of his sons and at least five other men. It accuses them of conspiracy, obstruction, threatening federal officers and other charges in a 2014 armed standoff over grazing cattle on U.S. land near Bundy's ranch.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say a northern Nevada woman stabbed her dog to death to avoid paying a veterinarian for the animal to be euthanized. The Washoe County Sheriff's office says 30-year-old Laura Beth Hesse of Stead has been arrested. Hesse couldn't be reached for comment. It's unclear if she has an attorney.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Authorities say the former Boulder City animal control supervisor has been indicted on cruelty charges. The Clark County District Attorney says a grand jury indicted Mary Jo Frazier on two felony counts of animal cruelty. Prosecutors say Oscar the Dachshund was unjustifiably euthanized and Lotus the Pitbull wasn't provided adequate food, medical care or pain management. Frazier couldn't be reached for comment. It's unclear if she has an attorney.
RENO, Nev. (AP) — A federal appeals court has overturned another ruling by the same federal judge in Nevada, criticizing his unorthodox handling of a Burning Man lawsuit and ordering him off a case for the sixth time in four years. The appellate court ruled that Judge Robert Jones had no legal basis to reject a deal lawyers for Burning Man and Pershing County reached in 2013 to settle a dispute. The panel said Jones inappropriately mocked the lawyers during a Reno hearing.
