BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Officials say a 74-year-old inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Institution south of Boise has died of natural causes.

The Idaho Department of Correction in a statement Thursday says Jay Bruce Gorton was found unresponsive in his bed in the medical unit of the facility at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Officials say he was pronounced dead about half an hour later.

Gorton was sentenced to life in prison in 2008 for lewd and lascivious conduct in Canyon County with a minor under 16.
