HOUSTON (AP) — Republican Marco Rubio has called out Donald Trump by name. During a Houston rally, Rubio criticized the GOP front-runner for not strongly opposing the federal health care law and for suggesting he could be a moderator in the Israeli Palestinian conflict. Rubio's comments came before Thursday's Republican debate in Houston.

WAVERLY, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police say a man missing since a funnel cloud destroyed his home has been found dead, bringing to four the number of deaths in the state amid severe weather. The powerful storm system knocked out power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses in the region. A day earlier, the system spawned about two dozen tornadoes along the Gulf Coast, causing three deaths.

BAILEY, Colo. (AP) — About 100 people gathered for a vigil for a sheriff's corporal who was shot and killed while authorities were trying to evict a man from his foreclosed home in the Colorado mountains. Corporal Nate Carrigan was killed and two other officers were wounded in the confrontation. The officers fired back, killing the gunman.

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Apple CEO Tim Cook says it would be "bad for America" if his company were to comply with the FBI's demand for help unlocking an encrypted iPhone used by one of the San Bernardino shooters. Cook tells ABC News he's prepared to take the dispute to the U.S. Supreme Court. He also said he would try to make his case directly to President Barack Obama.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — An Ohio board will hear arguments on whether to grant parole for a man who disappeared from a prison camp in 1959 while serving time for manslaughter. Frank Freshwaters, a 79-year-old widower, was found last year in rural Florida.
