MONTEVALLO, Ala. (AP) — A high school special education teacher accused of being sexually involved with a student in Alabama was arrested.

Local news media report that 31-year-old Montevallo High School teacher Lawrence Lilly II is charged with school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under 19. Lilly turned himself in to the Shelby County Jail on Tuesday, and was released after posting a $15,000.

An arrest warrant says Lilly had sexual intercourse with an 18-year-old female student. The sexual relations occurred between Sept. 25, 2015 and Feb. 3, 2016.

Montevallo police Chief Jeremy Littleton says the victim in the case is not a special education student.

Lilly is a graduate of the high school and a former Ole Miss football player from 2003 through 2005.
