KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Mourners packed a church in Kalamazoo last night to honor the victims of a shooting rampage in the Michigan community that left six dead. TV station WXYZ reports First Baptist Church was filled to standing room only within minutes of opening its doors. Jason Dalton, a 45-year-old Uber driver, has been charged with six counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder in the attack.
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Bill Cosby's wife will continue giving a deposition sometime next month. Camille Cosby answered questions under oath for lawyers in a defamation lawsuit brought against her husband by seven women who say he sexually assaulted them decades ago. The session took place under heavy security at a Springfield, Massachusetts, hotel.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Charlotte City Council in North Carolina has passed a law allowing transgender people to choose public bathrooms that correspond to their gender identity. North Carolina Gov. Pat McCrory, a former mayor of Charlotte, has called the change in policy a threat to public safety. He's warning that the General Assembly may step in.
WASHINGTON (AP) — A U.N. panel has approved a temporary ban on cargo shipments of rechargeable lithium batteries on passenger planes because they can create intense fires capable of destroying an aircraft. The decision by the International Civil Aviation Organization's top-level governing council isn't binding, but most countries follow the agency's standards. The ban is effective on April 1.
LOS ANGELES (AP) — PBS is launching an around-the-clock channel for children this fall. The free, 24-hour channel will provide child-friendly fare during prime-time and other periods that draw kids. Member stations now get up to 12 hours daily of kids' programming from PBS. The service also will be available online and on the PBS Kids video app.
