TRINITY, Fla. (AP) — The Florida Highway Patrol says a motorist who left his car after a collision and threw a beer bottle at the other driver was struck and killed by another car.
Frank Martello of New Port Richey was pronounced dead after he was hit about 10:50 p.m. Sunday as he walked back to his car.
The FHP said the 68-year-old Martello was drunk when his car struck another vehicle just north of the intersection, and both vehicles stopped.
According to a FHP report, Martello walked across the northbound lanes and threw a beer bottle at the driver.
Martello then walked back toward his vehicle but failed to see a Chrysler driven by a 79-year-old woman. The left side of the Chrysler then struck Martello.
No one in the Chrysler was injured.
