KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Police say random shootings in two parking lots in the Kalamazoo, Michigan, area left six people dead and that a 14-year-old girl reported killed earlier is alive. An eighth victim, a woman, was wounded in another parking lot and is hospitalized. Police say a 45-year-old male suspect was arrested without incident and weapons were found in his car. He's identified as Jason Dalton of Kalamazoo County and police say he has no known criminal history.
WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) — Officials in Fiji say at least six people are dead and most of the Pacific Island chain is without electricity following a power cyclone that tore through with winds of 177 mph. A state of emergency remains in effect and people have been told to stay in their homes. There are still some areas without communication or road access.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Donald Trump has solidified his front-runner status for the republican presidential nomination with a win in the South Carolina primary that gives him the outright lead in delegates to this point. To the West, Hillary Clinton won the Nevada Democratic caucuses over Bernie Sanders, blunting concerns about her viability.
AMMAN, Jordan (AP) — Secretary of State John Kerry says all parties still need to be fully consulted but he's announced a "provisional agreement" on a cease-fire that could begin in the next few days in Syria's five-year civil war. Kerry says he spoke with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to discuss terms of a ceasefire and the two now must reach out to the parties in the conflict. Kerry declined to give details.
THESSALONIKI, Greece (AP) — Moves by Macedonia and Serbia have led to a buildup of migrants waiting at the Greek side of the border. Greek police say 800 were stranded at the border today and another 2,750 were waiting in 55 buses nearby. Macedonia has closed its southern border with Greece, but only to Afghan migrants. Iraqis and Syrians can still cross. Macedonia says that's because Serbia has barred Afghans as well.
