SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho (AP) — Police in northern Idaho say a pit bull was shot and killed with a crossbow after biting a man.
KREM-TV (http://bit.ly/1VsZ6Hw ) reports that Spirit Lake police found a 5-year-old pit bull, named Cobra, dead on Feb. 12.
Police say Jack Strait told authorities he killed Cobra after the dog bit him on the ankle while on his property.
According to the police report, Strait said he killed the dog because it aggressively approached his mother-in-law.
Gary Wingfield, the dog's owner, says Cobra was friendly and that he was upset about the dog's death, but he would have done the same thing if he'd been bitten.
