NEW YORK (AP) — Snow is beginning to descend on parts of the mid-Atlantic and the Northeast overnight. And some parts of the region could get 4 to 8 inches of snow. Washington D.C. sent out a snow team way ahead of the storm, which is expected to deliver a sloppy mix of snow, sleet and rain. Today is a federal holiday, Presidents' Day, so fewer people will be on the roads.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The body of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is headed to Virginia. Scalia died over the weekend of natural causes. The 79-year-old's body was discovered in his room at a West Texas resort ranch. A local judge decided that no autopsy was necessary.

SAN CRISTOBAL DE LAS CASAS, Mexico (AP) — Pope Francis will be holding Mass today in the least Catholic state in Mexico. His aim is to boost the faith in heavily indigenous Chiapas (chee-AH'-puhs) state. Francis will preside over the Mass in three native languages. The pope is now half-way through is five-day trip to Mexico.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — A South Korean military helicopter has crashed in the eastern part of the country, killing three of the four soldiers on board. Army and defense officials say the chopper went down today in a field during a checkout flight. They say initially all four soldiers were rescued, but three of them died in the hospital. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

JERUSALEM (AP) — Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert (EH'-hood OHL'-murt) has arrived at a prison to begin serving a 19-month sentence for bribery and obstruction of justice. The 70-year-old Olmert was convicted in March 2014 in a wide-ranging case that accused him of accepting bribes to promote a controversial real-estate project in Jerusalem. The charges pertained to a period when he was mayor of Jerusalem and trade minister, years before he became prime minister in 2006.
