LAS VEGAS (AP) — Northwest Career & Technical Academy of Las Vegas hopes to top 159 other teams and repeat as champions during this weekend's 25th annual Nevada Science Bowl competition.

The day-long event Saturday at VegasPBS studios draws student teams from the Las Vegas area and as far away as Lake Tahoe, Lovelock, Minden, Reno and Cedar City, Utah.

Questions come in biology, chemistry, physics, math, astronomy and other sciences.

The competition is hosted by the National Nuclear Security Administration's Nevada Field Office in North Las Vegas, and the show is taped for broadcast in coming weeks.

The top 12 teams win cash for their math and science departments, and the winner gets a trip to Washington, D.C., for the National Science Bowl in April.
