BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho Democratic lawmaker is renewing his efforts to curb the number of children who die because their parents choose faith healing and not medical assistance for religious reasons. The Times-News reports that Rep. John Gannon is working on a new bill after failing to get a legislative hearing for a similar proposal in 2014.
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Prosecutors say they intend to seek the death penalty against an Emmett man accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death at their Nampa home. The Idaho Press-Tribune reports that Canyon County prosecutors have filed notice of their intent to seek the death penalty against Brandon Shaw in the death of Chelsey Rae Malone, citing aggravating circumstances. Shaw is set to appear in court today.
CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — A 63-year-old woman has died in an industrial accident at a seed plant in Caldwell. Officials say Francisca R. Gomez of Parma died Wednesday at the Crookham Company seed operation. The Idaho Statesman reports Gomez's hair got caught in a piece of machinery, pulling her against the machine.
MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Victor Sanders scored 27 points and Idaho handed Montana its first Big Sky Conference defeat, 63-58, last night. The win by the Vandals snapped Montana's seven-game win streak, dealt the Grizzlies their first home loss and left Weber State alone atop the Big Sky at 5-0. It was Idaho's first victory in Missoula since 1999. The Vandals rejoined the Big Sky last season.
