ELOY, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities say a Colorado man has died after a skydiving accident in Arizona.
Eloy police and fire crews responded to reports of a skydiver suffering from a hard landing about 1:30 p.m. Thursday near the Eloy Municipal Airport at Skydive Arizona about 60 miles south of Phoenix.
Police say the 34-year-old man died at the scene.
Witnesses reported seeing the man's parachute collapse during his jump, causing him to rapidly fall to the ground.
Police are withholding the man's name until his relatives can be notified.
The man reportedly had 12 years of skydiving experience.
Federal Aviation Administration officials were at the scene to investigate the accident.
On New Year's Eve, a 37-year-old Utah man died while attempting to carry out a skydiving jump at Skydive Arizona.
