LAS VEGAS (AP) — Casino mogul Steve Wynn ventured into politics during a recent speech, taking the opportunity to weigh in on the 2016 presidential election.
Vegas Inc. reports (http://bit.ly/1WxOA2o ) that the Wynn Resorts Ltd. CEO spoke Tuesday at a conference for printing technology company Electronics for Imaging.
Wynn said he generally tries to avoid staking out political positions, but said he makes an exception for Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders. He called Sanders a "moron" and questioned his understanding of how the country works.
He also spoke about Republican candidate and real estate mogul Donald Trump, calling him a friend. But Wynn questioned Trump's claims that his fellow Republican candidate Sen. Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada, may not be eligible for the presidency.
Wynn also criticized President Barack Obama's tax penalties.
