FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Police say they have arrested a 16-year-old boy who threatened to blow up his California high school on social media.
The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1Ph0VZg ) that a police spokesman says they arrested the boy at his home Monday afternoon. He was booked into juvenile hall.
Police say the threats were made to Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia. School was closed for Martin Luther King Day on Monday, but some students were on campus for a musical rehearsal.
District officials didn't know students were on the campus at the time. They notified parents about the threat on Tuesday.
Area superintendent for the Visalia Unified School District Jeff Hohne says the district worked closely with police and there was no indication that the campus was in danger.
