BAGHDAD (AP) — Iraqi security forces are going house to house today in a Baghdad neighborhood where three Americans were reportedly kidnapped over the weekend. Some streets have been closed. An Iraqi government intelligence official says the Americans were kidnapped from their interpreter's home in the southern Baghdad neighborhood of Dora. Communication stopped when the Americans were taken to Sadr city.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — A tightening primary race produced a few fireworks in the final debate among Democratic presidential candidates ahead of the Iowa caucuses in two weeks. Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders tangled repeatedly last night over who's tougher on gun control and Wall Street and how to shape the future of health care in America.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Martin Luther King Jr.'s daughter, the Rev. Bernice King, says the theme of freedom is especially meaningful this year because it is the 50th anniversary of her father's trip to Chicago to call for open and fair housing. It's also the 30th anniversary of the federal holiday honoring the slain civil rights leader. Civic leaders, activists, artists and others throughout the U.S. are celebrating, marching and paying homage to King today.

DAVOS, Switzerland (AP) — Political and business elite gathering in the Swiss ski resort of Davos for this week's World Economic Forum are being told it's time for less talk and more action to address growing inequalities around the world. Two reports published today, from Oxfam and public relations firm Edelman, warn about the widening gap between the haves and have-nots. Oxfam says just 62 people own the same wealth as half the planet. The compares with 388 people just five years ago.

BUDAPEST, Hungary (AP) — Most lanes of a key intersection in the Hungarian capital are blocked today in a taxi protest of Uber and other ride-hailing apps. More than 100 taxis are blocking traffic in downtown Budapest, demanding a ban on the competing services. Taxi drivers also plan to go to the office of Budapest's mayor to present a petition with their demands. Uber says it has 1,200 drivers and 80,000 users in Budapest.
