CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Attorney General Adam Laxalt is appealing to the Nevada Supreme Court after a judge put a new school choice program on hold indefinitely. Laxalt says a speedy ruling from the high court could give clarity to thousands of families who applied to the Education Savings Account program and expected funds starting in February.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — One of the perks of driving to the Las Vegas strip may be ending. Casino giant MGM says it will start charging up to $10 for overnight self-parking at most of its properties. So far, no other casino companies are following suit. The move could bring in millions of dollars of revenue each year.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Las Vegas Wal-Mart store is among of 269 locations the retail giant plans to close. The Reno Gazette Journal reports that a Wal-Mart supercenter on North Nellis Boulevard will shut its doors by 7 p.m. on Sunday. Wal-Mart spokeswoman Delia Garcia says the store's 350 employees will be given opportunities to transfer to other stores.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Clark County School District Board of Trustees has approved a two-year contract with teachers. The district says the trustees ratified the new deal with a unanimous vote. Teachers will get pay increases and monthly health insurance contributions from the district.
