LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Cosmopolitan casino-hotel says it doesn't have plans to follow in MGM Resorts' footsteps and charge for parking on the Las Vegas Strip. Casino giant MGM announced hours earlier that it will start charging up to $10 for overnight self-parking at most of its properties. No other casinos have reported plans to follow suit.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — An avalanche warning remains in effect until tomorrow morning in the mountains around Lake Tahoe. A winter storm has dumped more than a foot of snow at the upper elevations, with more in the forecast. Authorities responded to dozens of car crashes Friday morning in the Reno-Sparks area.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — Gov. Brian Sandoval is relaunching a committee where power players will discuss some of the biggest questions in the gambling world. He'll chair the 12-member Nevada Gaming Policy Committee, which will also include Nevada gambling regulators, casino executives and state lawmakers.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno city councilwoman says she hated to bother the fire department when her dog fell through an icy pond behind her house, but she's glad she did. Councilwoman Naomi Duerr (DEW-uhr) says she's "beyond grateful" after a Reno firefighter slid across the ice on his belly with a rope earlier today to rescue her 2-year-old German Shepherd, Macy.
