SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — San Francisco police say the human bones found in planters outside a home belonged to a child and another person.
The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://sfg.ly/1mXktoD ) police said Wednesday a resident near Alamo Square found the remains in November while gardening.
Police say the Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed they were human bones.
Police spokeswoman Officer Grace Gatpandan says an investigation revealed one of the sets of bones belonged to child between the age of 8 and 14. There is no information on the other set of remains.
She says the bones showed signs the bodies may have been cut but it's not clear how long the bones were in that place or if foul play is involved.
Gatpandan says police are investigating how the bones ended up on the property.
