LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas city officials are gauging the response to rules put in place in recent weeks to regulate street performers on the Fremont Street casino and pedestrian mall. City Attorney Brad Jerbic hosts a meeting today at City Hall about a municipal ordinance that went into effect in November. Some performers have criticized the new system, saying it limits their acts and could cost them money.
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A former Las Vegas-area elected official has a court date today in a drunken driving charge. An attorney sought an extra day to confirm he'll represent Tom Collins in the case. Collins isn't expected to appear in person. The 65-year-old former Democratic state lawmaker and Clark County commissioner was arrested Dec. 11 after a crash while leaving the National Finals Rodeo at the Thomas & Mack Center.

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) — A district judge has put Nevada's sweeping school choice program on hold just weeks before money was expected to flow to parents for private school tuition. Carson City District Court Judge James Wilson granted a preliminary injunction yesterday in a challenge over the constitutionality of the program.
