PHILADELPHIA (AP) — It's not known whether a tip someone gave a Philadelphia police officer on the street is for real but the Police Department is investigating -- along with the FBI. The tipster said members of a radical group may pose a threat to officers following the ambush of a patrolman in his cruiser last week. Officials have alerted all department personnel.
VERACRUZ, Mexico (AP) — Mexican officials say 20 people were killed and 25 others were hurt when a bus plunged off a bridge and fell into a deep gorge in the Gulf coast state of Veracruz. The head of the civil defense office there says the bus was apparently carrying members of a soccer team when it skidded off a bridge today near the city of Cordoba.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell says he has no intention of pushing lawmakers to approve President Barak Obama's request for new war powers that would take the fight against the Islamic State group beyond national borders and allow it to expand to any "closely related successor entity" to IS. McConnell tells ABC he fears it could "tie the hands" of the next president.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Hillary Clinton is brushing off Donald Trump's swipes at her husband, former President Bill Clinton. The Democratic presidential front-runner says Republicans have a history of trying to dig up dirt on the Clintons, and if they want to recycle that now, that's their business. As she put it today: "Didn't work before, won't work again." Clinton appeared on CBS' "Face the Nation."
RENO, Nev. (AP) — Donald Trump is taking on the NFL. He says he doesn't watch professional football much anymore because the league has gone "soft" like the United States. Trump drew the analogy during a campaign speech to more than 3,000 people in downtown Reno today while casino sportsbooks were jammed with fans across the street watching the NFL playoffs.
