WEST JORDAN, Utah (AP) — A West Jordan man is in jail after he allegedly drove drunk into a utility box and a home, severing a gas line and causing a power outage.

KSL-TV in Salt Lake City reports (http://bit.ly/1TOatJk) that 27-year-old Alex Cushing has been booked into Salt Lake County Jail.

Police say he drove his Pontiac GTO over a stop sign around 2:15 a.m. Sunday and then crashed into an electrical power box.

Officer Nelson Vargas says Cushing kept going and plowed into a nearby home, causing significant damage.

The homeowners were inside at the time but no one was injured.

Vargas says Cushing showed clear signs of being inebriated.

Crews were still working in the afternoon to restore power to some residents who lost it because of the accident.
