RENO, Nev. (AP) — A Reno jeweler says he has gotten mostly positive feedback for a commercial depicting two women getting engaged. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports the ad has been playing on local TV stations and in movie theaters, indicating a growing trend of companies recognizing the purchasing power of the gay and lesbian community. BVW Jewelers owner Britten Wolf says the small number of complaints have been from women who saw the ad on TV. The commercial shows one woman proposing to another on a bridge overlooking the Truckee River.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The owner of the Nevada brothel where former NBA and reality TV star Lamar Odom was found unconscious is making a bid for a state Senate seat. The Reno Gazette-Journal reports that Dennis Hof announced this week that he will run for the seat held by Sen. Greg Brower of Reno. Hof says he will run as a Libertarian. Brower, a Republican, announced in September that he will not seek re-election. Former Assemblywoman Heidi Gansert, a Republican, is also campaigning for the seat. Hof owns the Love Ranch and other legal brothels throughout the state.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police say a bus went off the road and fatally struck a woman on the sidewalk. Authorities say the crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Tropicana Avenue near Polaris Drive. According to police, the bus was traveling eastbound on Tropicana when it veered for an unknown reason. The bus hit a bus stop shelter and then a female pedestrian. Police say emergency responders pronounced her dead at the scene.

PAHRUMP, Nev. (AP) — Nye County Sheriff's deputies have made two arrests after a man allegedly shot at a woman inside a Pahrump casino. They face charges ranging from attempted murder to assault with a deadly weapon. According to deputies, Daniels got into an argument with a woman inside a cafe at the Pahrump Nugget Hotel-Casino just after midnight.
