SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Missouri State University has named two men to lead diversity and inclusion efforts at the school.
The men will handle duties previously assigned to vice president of diversity and inclusion Ken Coopwood, who resigned this week after questions were raised about how the university treated him.
The Springfield News-Leader reported Friday (http://sgfnow.co/1OgXaxa ) the university chose Wes Pratt, director of the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance, and Gilbert Brown, associate dean of the College of Education.
They will serve 18 months, while the university conducts a national search to replace Coopwood.
Coopwood resigned after an independent investigation found "no credible evidence" the university had discriminated against him.
The university also plans to create a diversity council that will include current and former members, faculty, administrators, business leaders and community members.
