LAS VEGAS (AP) — A Jan. 20 court date has been set for a couple accused of killing a California man who police say was sleeping in his car outside a northwest Las Vegas gym. Kyle Wad Staats and his girlfriend, 19-year-old Megan Lee Hippie, made an initial court appearance in the early Dec. 29 slaying of 42-year-old Neil Brian Gandler of Palo Alto. A judge postponed arraignment to allow time to appoint attorneys to the case.

NORTH LAS VEGAS, Nev. (AP) — Police say they've arrested a 29-year-old man in the slaying of his housemate in a New Year's Day shooting in North Las Vegas. A police spokesman says it wasn't immediately clear if Shawn Lynn Glover had an attorney.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Chinese drone maker Ehang (EE'-hang) has unveiled what it calls the world's first drone capable of carrying a human passenger. The company pulled the cloth off the Ehang 184 at the Las Vegas Convention Center during the CES gadget show today. According to Ehang, the electric-powered drone can carry up to 220 pounds and fly for 23 minutes at sea level.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — The latest storm to hit the Sierra dropped a foot of snow on ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, with a couple of inches in the valleys and freezing fog that caused dozens of crashes on slippery roads from Reno to Fallon. The only injury reported involved a man who was hospitalized today after his truck slid off Interstate 80 near the Nevada-California line and plunged several feet below into the Truckee River. His name and his condition were not immediately released.
