PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man accused of squeezing his baby daughter so hard he broke her ribs has surrendered to Pittsburgh police.
Twenty-three-year-old Billy Damond Williams was awaiting arraignment Wednesday on attempted homicide and other charges. His attorney, Ernest Sharif, says Williams denies wrongdoing, saying, "Nobody abused any child in this case intentionally."
A doctor who examined the 2-month-old girl in December says she suffered four broken ribs and ruptured blood vessels in her eyes and face.
Police say they interviewed Williams then and found him "aloof" about the child's injuries.
Williams spent 58 days in jail after pleading guilty to injuring his 5-month-old son in 2013 before the boy died. That boy suffered similar injuries to those inflicted on Williams' daughter, though investigators never linked the boy's death to his injuries.
