The organization is appealing a judge's order that allowed the governor to cut off federal money for sex education and sexually transmitted disease testing. Gov. Gary Herbert said he cut off funding because he was troubled by secretly recorded videos.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Josh Romney says he's focused on helping Utah's governor win re-election this year, but is eyeing the office for himself in 2020. The Deseret News reports that son of former presidential candidate Mitt Romney says running for governor in 2020 is something he is "strongly considering."
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A state representative is proposing that Utah join 20 other states that allow 17-year-olds to vote in primary elections if they'll turn 18 by the general election in November. Salt Lake City Democratic state Rep. Joel Briscoe says he hopes to boost voter participation with his proposal and get more young people engaged in politics.
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Bountiful, Utah, man who created a dating website for white people says it is not racially motivated. Sam Russell says the site is open to anyone regardless of race and will be moderated for racist content. He says it now has more than 1,000 members.
