PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A former Rhode Island resident has been sentenced to prison for molesting a child multiple times.

A Providence County Superior Court judge on Tuesday sentenced 41-year-old Joshua Rathbun, who now lives in Providence, Utah, to 40 years in prison with 25 years to serve followed by probation.

Rathbun was found guilty in June of two counts of first-degree child molestation.

Prosecutors said Rathbun, formerly of Westerly, molested a young girl multiple times in Rhode Island between 2003 and 2006.

Prosecutors said the girl was 4 when the abuse began and reported it to her mother when she was 13.
