LAS VEGAS (AP) — A judge in Las Vegas has sentenced a self-styled pimp to death after he was convicted of killing three people with shots fired into a moving vehicle on the Las Vegas Strip nearly three years ago. The Las Vegas Sun reports that 29-year-old Ammar Asim Faruq Harris was found guilty in October as the shooter who triggered the pre-dawn carnage in February 2013, apparently following a dispute at a hip-hop event at the Aria resort.
BURNS, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon sheriff says the father-and-son ranchers convicted of setting fire to federal grazing land have reported to prison. Harney County's Sheriff says Dwight Hammond and his son, Steven Hammond, turned themselves in and were at a federal correctional facility in California. A Nevada rancher is acting as spokesman for an armed group that's occupying a remote Oregon wildlife preserve saying the Hammonds were treated unfairly.
