Man hit by car at Salt Lake City UTA platform

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — A man waiting at a Utah Transit Authority platform in Salt Lake City was critically injured after being hit by a car.

KSL-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1R90xMF) that the accident happened Saturday on near 200 South and 500 West.

According to Salt Lake City police, a sedan heading west on 200 South drove up onto the platform and struck the 66-year-old victim.

The man was taken to a hospital with serious leg injuries and was hospitalized in critical condition.

His condition was not immediately known Sunday.

Police say the driver somehow became distracted but they did not issue a citation.

The incident remains under investigation.
