SEABROOK, Md. (AP) — Police have arrested a man in what they're calling an unprovoked fatal stabbing near a basketball court outside an elementary school in Seabrook.
Prince George's County police announced Tuesday that 31-year-old Alex Jones of Lanham has been charged with first-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of 24-year-old Douglas Reyes.
Police say Jones and Reyes walked to the basketball court separately. Police say Reyes was sitting on a bench near the court when Jones confronted him and stabbed him several times in an unprovoked attack. Police say Reyes and Jones did not know each other.
An officer arrested Jones near the scene shortly after the stabbing.
Jones is being held without bond. Online court records do not list an attorney for him.
