BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Fighting the effects of climate change in Great Basin rangeland is drawing together federal, state and private interests to deal with what scientists say is greater weather variability causing big swings in forage available for cattle and wildlife. Experts say native vegetation in the region that has survived climate variations for tens of thousands of years now faces new challenges from invasive species and wildfires.
HOMEDALE, Idaho (AP) — One person was taken to a Boise-area hospital following an officer-involved shooting in Homedale. KBOI-TV reports the shooting happened when a Homedale Police officer and a Owyhee County deputy were called to a home for a by a family member. The Owhyee County Sheriff says someone answered the door with a firearm, shots were fired and that person was taken to a Boise area hospital.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A "suspicious device" that brought the bomb squad to a Boise homeless shelter was just a make-shift battery pack used to light up the star on the top of the Christmas tree. KTVB-TV reports one of the shelter's tech-savvy guests had made the battery pack out of a toilet paper roll, batteries, saran wrap and wires. A janitor called police when he saw the device.
SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — The Nez Perce County sheriff's office says an intoxicated man fell off cliff after driving off Idaho road and going for help. KXLY-TV reports a deputy patrolling the Lindsey Creek Road area noticed a vehicle that appeared to have crashed. Deputies found the intoxicated 22-year-old male driver after a 20 minute search of the area.
