TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) — The last of three white lions on loan from the Siegfried & Roy animal and magic act has died at an Ohio Zoo.

Toledo Zoo officials announced Wednesday that Courage has been euthanized after a two-year struggle with kidney and liver disease.

The zoo says the lion and his late siblings, Wisdom and Legend, were born at the Cincinnati Zoo in 2001 where they were raised by their parents. The three lions went to the Toledo Zoo on loan in 2003 and did not appear in the Siegfried & Roy show.

Wisdom died in 2013 and Legend died earlier this year.

Zoo veterinarians had been able to manage Courage's chronic kidney disease until his condition declined the past few days and he stopped eating. They say euthanasia was the humane decision.
