DOVER, Del. (AP) — Dover police say an officer suspended without pay after being charged with assault will receive back pay.
Thomas Webster IV, who was suspended in May after being indicted, was acquitted by a jury earlier this month.
Police department spokesman Cpl. Mark Hoffman confirmed Tuesday that Webster is entitled to back pay dating to his suspension because he was acquitted and had already been disciplined internally.
Police dashcam video showed Webster kicking Lateef Dickerson in the head, breaking his jaw, in 2013.
Webster returned to the police force this weekend on paid administrative leave. Officials say he will undergo a psychological evaluation before a decision is made on whether he will return to full duty.
Meanwhile, a judge on Tuesday scheduled a Jan. 12 hearing for Dickerson on unrelated gun-theft charges.
