ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) — Seventeen students who attend Asheville High School have been suspended after a series of fights broke out on campus.

The Asheville Citizen-Times (http://avlne.ws/1QsTXQS) reports there were no serious injuries in the fights which occurred on Wednesday afternoon.

School system spokesman Charlie Glazener says the first involving students happened off campus in a community college parking lot. Then there was a second fight near the high school's art building followed by a third in the bus loop in front of the school.

Local police and school resource officers broke up the fights.

Police say no one has been charged. Glazener said the suspensions are for up to 10 days while the incidents are investigated.
