SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Police say a man has fallen to his death while canyoneering in southern Utah.
Washington County Sheriff's Deputies say he was with three other people at a canyon north of St. George when he fell about 40 feet on Wednesday afternoon
Authorities say that rescuers hiked to the victim near Yankee Doodle Canyon and confirmed that his injuries were fatal. They are working to recover his body from the bottom of a 600-foot canyon.
The man's name was not immediately released.
Yankee Doodle Canyon is about 300 miles south of Salt Lake City.
